If you have been unable to connect your controller using the mobile app or web browser method, there are the steps to connect your controller to a default network saved on the controller using a personal Hotspot, if available, on your smart device. Once connected the latest firmware will download and install. 


 Note: This solution involves several steps, so if you are open to it, please give us a call at 800-978-9078 when you have your controller and access to your local WiFi network so we may assist you. We are available Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM ET and are here to help walk you through the process of getting connected. 


1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > About and click on the 'Device Name' box. Click the gray circle with the 'X' on the right corner to delete the current device name

    Note: This is only a temporary change so write down your current device name to re-enter it once the FB controller has          been updated and connected

    Android Note: Hotspot on most Android phones is located in Settings > Connections > WiFi Hotspot and Tethering menu. Clicking on the current Hotspot 'Name' allows the name to be changed to 'fb' (go to step 6 below)

2. Enter 'fb' (both lowercase letter and without the apostrophes) as the new device name

3. Click 'Done'

    Note: Click ‘Save’ on Android phones

4. Go back to 'Settings' 

5. Click on 'Personal Hotspot' in the 'Settings' menu

6. Click 'WiFi' (iPhone) or Password (Android) box

7. Click the gray circle with the 'X' on the right corner to delete the current password 

      Note: Write down the current iPhone Hotspot auto-generated alpha/numeric or Android Hotspot password. You will              need to change it back again once done

8. Enter 'fb200200' (both lowercase letters, and numbers without the apostrophes) as the new WiFi password

9. Click 'Done' or 'OK' for Android devices

15. Enable Personal Hotspot by switching the toggle button to 'On'

16. Plug the power supply into your FB controller

 

Allow your controller to connect to 'fb', the new hotspot you just created on your iPhone or Android. Once connected, MyFlameBoss.com ID ##### P#### will display on FB200V2, FB300 controllers and Online! Visit MyFlameBoss.com ID: ##### PIN: #### on FB500 controllers. Write down the numbers displayed, they are your device ID and PIN. Next, the controller will download and install the latest firmware to your controller. Leave your controller connected to your iPhone or Android Hotspot while performing one of the steps provided below:


Web App: Login to your MyFlamBoss.com web account to add your FB device and send your local WiFi network information to your controller: 


1. Once logged into your MyFlameBoss.com account, click 'Profile' on the dark gray/black toolbar near the top of the page 

2. Click the gray 'Add a Device' box or link

3. Enter your Device ID in the box provided NOTE: Your Device ID are provided in the 'MyFlameBoss.com' screens on your          controller Examples: ID:12345  P:6789 OR ID: 12345 PIN: 6789

4. Enter your Device PIN in the box provided NOTE: Your Device PIN are provided in the 'MyFlameBoss.com' screens on your      controller Examples: 12345-6789 OR ID: 12345 P: 6789 

5. Enter the Device Serial Number in the box provided NOTE: The Device Serial Number is located on the label on the controller.

6. Click 'Add', an image of a controller is displayed with 'Device #####' displayed below

7. Click the 'Settings' link located below the image of the Flame Boss® controller

7. Click the 'WiFi' link in the list of settings

8. Enter your WiFi SSID/Name in the first box provided

    Note: The SSID and Password are case-sensitive. 

    Tip: Our WiFi-enabled controllers will only connect to 2.4 GHz connections and do not connect to 5.0 GHz connections. 

9. Enter your WiFi Key/Password in the third box provided

10. Click 'Submit'

11. A message is displayed stating 'New wifi settings have been sent to your controller.'

12. Turn off the Hotspot on your smart device

      Hint: do not forget to change your Device Name on your iPhone after confirming your FB controller connects to your            WiFi


Mobile App: Login to your Flame Boss or Big Green Egg mobile app to add your controller and send your local WiFi network information to your controller:


1. Once logged into the FB or BGE mobile app on your smart device go to the 'Controllers' tab

2. Locate your controller in the 'Local Controllers' list

3. Click 'ADD'

4. In the 'Add Controller' screen Enter the 'Device Pin' you wrote down earlier in the space provided. 

5. Click 'OK'

6. Locate your controller in the 'Added Controllers' list

7. Click 'WIFI'

8. In the 'WiFi Network for 'Your Device ID or Name' Enter 'WiFi Name' and 'WiFi Password' in the spaces provided

    Note: The SSID and Password are case-sensitive. 

    Tip: Our WiFi-enabled controllers will only connect to 2.4 GHz connections and do not connect to 5.0 GHz connections. 

9. Click 'OK'

10. A 'WiFi settings sent' confirmation is displayed

11. Turn off the Hotspot on your smart device

      Hint: do not forget to change your Device Name on your iPhone after confirming your FB controller connects to your         WiFi

12. On FB200V2, FB300, and FB500 controllers 'WiFi Status Joining (Your WiFi Name)' is displayed. On FB400 and EGG Genius controller the LED fast blinks and turns solid once connected


If your controller connects to your local WiFI without the Hotspot turned on, Congratulations! Your local WiFi network information is now saved and working on your FB or BGE controller.
