To gain access to the full set of features supported by the Flame Boss Google Action, you will need to be a verified user with a linked account. If you are not a verified user, that means Google considers you a guest user. Guest users cannot be remembered between conversations, which means you would need to tell Flame Boss your device ID each time, so we recommend becoming a verified user.
*Special Note: we only support English (United States) on Google Home. If you use a different language, go to Google Home > Settings > Google Assistant > Manage all Assistant settings > Languages and choose or add "English (United States)" as the language for speaking to your Assistant
Becoming a verified user for Google Assistant:
If you use the Google Assistant app on your smartphone, you will already be a verified user. If you use a Google Home, you will be considered a guest if...
- ...you have Personal Results disabled.
- ...you have Web & App activity disabled.
- ...you have Voice Match enabled and Google could not recognize your voice.
- ...you have Voice Match enabled and you did not invoke Google Assistant with your voice (e.g. a long button press on a Google Home).
Here is how to enable Personal Results using the Google Home app:
- Enter the mobile app and tap the house icon to visit the Home tab.
- Locate your Google Home device on the Home tab.
- Tap the device to bring up the device’s volume page. You will see what is currently playing on the device (if anything) and the volume setting as a value between 0% and 100%.
- Tap the gear on the top right to access the device’s settings.
- Scroll down to the ‘More’ subheading and tap 'Recognition & Personalization'. On some devices, the Personal Results settings are located directly under ‘More’.
- Toggle slider next to 'Allow personal results'.
Linking your Google account to your Flame Boss account:
After Google considers you a verified user, you will be able to link your accounts. This connects your Flame Boss account to your Google account. Without a linked account, you would need to verify your device PIN each time, so we recommend linking your accounts.
- If your Flame Boss account email address is the same as your Gmail address...
- Say "Hey Google, ask Flame Boss to link my account."
- Google Assistant will ask you for permission to access your name, email address, and profile picture.
- If you grant permission, the linking will happen automatically.
- If your Flame Boss account email address is different from your Gmail address...
- Say "Hey Google, ask Flame Boss to link my account."
- Google Assistant will ask you for permission to access your name, email address, and profile picture.
- If you grant permission, you will be instructed to finish the process on your mobile device using the Google Home app.
- In the Google Home app, visit the second pane on the main screen.
- You will have a new "Priority Event" saying "Link to Flame Boss"; if you do not see it, drag down to refresh the pane and drag down again to reveal it.
- Tap "LINK"[1].
- Tap to select the Google account you would like to link.
- You will be shown a page to enter your Flame Boss account login information.
- After you enter your information, your account will be linked.
[1] We have experienced issues when using the Google Home app on iOS. If you are an iOS user and tapping "LINK" does nothing, we suggest downloading the Google Assistant app. You will receive a push notification that you can tap to bring you to step 7.
